This online educational module has been designed for those doctors with little or no knowledge of chest tube insertion or chest drain management, and/or who require an update of their knowledge.
It contains a refresher on chest anatomy and physiology, as well as a step-by-step guide to a standard chest tube insertion technique, with a printable summary page for easy future reference. This module will also provide you with skills in assessing the risks associated with inserting a chest tube in your patients and how to analyse why things may sometimes go wrong. Management of underwater seal
drains and troubleshooting is also covered.

A nurses' guide to insertion and removal of chest tubes and management of chest drains in adults
This education program has been designed for nursing staff who assist in inserting and removing chest tubes, and who manage chest drains in adult patients. It contains a refresher on chest anatomy and physiology, as well as a step-by-step guide to assisting in chest drain insertion and removing a chest tube, with a printable summary page for easy future reference.
